Remembrance Day

Our commemorations.

This morning parents of children across school were invited to stay at school and help their child make a poppy. Making the poppies gave the children a chance to think about those that had lost their lives fighting for their country. If you look closely in school you will see that all of the poppies have been combined to make a display that will keep us thinking about what they represent for many months to come.

We all had a chance to learn about the history of the poppy as a symbol, starting with its origins on the battle-churned fields of the First World War.

Later in the morning we all paused for a moments reflection during a two minute silence, the whole school going quiet and giving thanks.
