Creative Day

We had a fantastic day of CREATIVE THINKING and learning new art skills and techniques. Everyone came in their old clothes and spent the whole day being creative and artistic.

We had a visiting artist Anya Greenop who helped the children in KS1 to make a fantastic painting of the school, all 120 children did their own square within the picture. The painting is now on display in the library and looks wonderful! Go and take a look.

We also had a visiting poet Andy Tooze who helped us create images with words – we presented our poems during assembly at the end of the day. Some very brave Y2 children recited their individual poems for everyone else, we were very impressed with their clear voices and wonderful expression.

We all had a go at creating images from lines: with pencils, paint rollers and quilling a very fiddly but great new medium. Shading with different pencils takes a great deal of concentration whilst the planning needed to create an autumn image using paint rollers and line shapes was immense – not a sound could be heard because the children were concentrating so hard.
