Anti-bullying week

What we've been doing and how you can find out more.

The 16th-20th of November was Anti-bullying Week and so we've been thinking hard about what bullying is, how we recognise it and what we can do to make sure we are all good friends to everyone in the school. There's been a daily discussion in assembly and plenty of talk in our class-rooms, which is appropriate as this year the theme has been 'Make a Noise', meaning that everyone's voice deserves to be heard.

So what is bullying?

“Bullying is something that can hurt you on the inside or on the outside. It hurts you on the outside by hitting you and hurting you physically. It hurts you on the inside by name calling, teasing and hurting your feelings. It is done on purpose, it is not an accident. If someone hurts you during a game by accident this is not bullying but if every time you play a game they hurt you or your feelings, this would be bullying. It can aim to hurt a group of people or just one person. It is very important that you understand that bullying happens more than once, it is not an argument with your friends, although this can be very upsetting.”
